Andhra University (IAST: Āndhra Vișvakalāpariṣhat) is a public university located in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India. It was established in 1926. King Vikram Deo Verma, the Maharaja of Jeypore was one of the biggest donors of the university. The school officials were planning to move the institution to another location owing to a lack of financing until he gave land and two million rupees for its development. Furthermore, he provided ₹1 lakh annually to the university, an approximate figure of ₹17 lakhs between 1930s - 1940s. The institution awarded the liberal king an Honorary Doctorate degree. Maharajah Vikram Deo established the Jeypore College of Technology and Science at Andhra University. The Times Higher Education World University Rankings of 2020 gave it a global rating of 1001+ and placed it 351-400 in Asia. The QS World University Rankings of 2020 ranked it 351–400 in Asia. The National Institutional Ranking Framework placed it 19th among universities and 36th overall in India in 2020. NIRF also ranked it College of Pharmaceutical Sciences 34th in India in the pharmacy ranking.
