Founded in 1995, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology is located in Hisar. The university has control over the programmes offered in the faculties of science, technology, engineering, and management.

An Act of the State of Haryana's Legislature created Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology in Hisar on October 20, 1995. On November 1st, 1995, a formal inauguration took place. It bears the name Guru Jambheshwar Ji Maharaj in honour of the revered environmentalist of the fifteenth century.

The GJU is located about 1 km from the Hisar Airport; 2 km from the Blue Bird Lake; 3 km from the bus station along the National Highway 9 (old NH10), 4 km from the town center & main market area; 6 km from the Hisar Junction railway station; 6 km from Mahabir Stadium; 167 km from the Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi; 180 km from the New Delhi railway station; and 235 km from the Chandigarh International Airport.
